MARMAC 302 Launched
McDonough Marine Service announced the launching of the MARMAC 302, the first of two new 300’ x 100’ x 20' ABS Class ocean going barges commissioned by the barge and marine transportation company. The barges were designed by Dan Jones & Associates with an ABS Load line maximum cargo capacity of 13,200 short tons at 15.7’ draft. Vroon Orders New SSV
The subsea support vessel (SSV), to be named 'VOS Sugar, is to be built in China at the Fujian Southeast Shipyard. The contract contains the option for a second vessel, and follows on from the two SSVs built at the Shipyard in 2012 for Vroon Offshore Services (VOS Shine and VOS Sweet). The new vessel, VOS Sugar, is a modern SSV with retractable thruster and super‑silent tunnel thruster, providing a high standard of comfort for both passengers and crew.

Japan Authorizes ABS as Recognized Organization
ABS was granted authorization by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to serve as a Recognized Organization of the State of Japan. This authorization allows ABS to provide statutory certification services to Japanese-flagged vessels on behalf of the government. “This authorization strengthens our global coverage and allows vessel owners and operators greater operational flexibility,” said Christopher J.
