Colle Shipyard Contract, New ASD Tug
John H. Colle, Jr., President of Colle Towing Company, Inc., Pascagoula, Miss., announced that Signet Maritime Corporation has awarded a new-build contract to Colle Shipyard for construction of Signet Weatherly, a Robert Allan designed RAmparts 3200 105-ft x 38-ft by 17.7-ft ASD tug. The vessel will be built and classed to ABS Maltese Cross, AMS, Ocean Towing Service standards. She will be employed in Signet’s expanding US Gulf and overseas harbor, ship assist and ocean rig transport businesses.
BISSO Marine Attains ISO 9001:2008 Cert
BISSO Marine has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification of its Quality Management System. BISSO Marine received the ISO 9001:2008 certification after being assessed by ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc.
Jensen Maritime Designs Two New Barges
Jensen Maritime Consultants, Inc., a Crowley company, has designed two new barges for Global Marine Transportation, Inc. Both 10,000-barrel tank barges are scheduled to be constructed and delivered in 2010. Designed for lightering services, the barges are being built by Trinity Marine Products, Inc., and will be chartered to Maxum Petroleum, Inc. The tank barges are designed with corrugated cargo tank bulkheads to ease tank stripping and cleaning.
WESMAR Thrusters ABS DP Approval
WESMAR announced that two more of their all stainless steel bow thrusters have been given ABS Certificate of Design Assessment for dynamic positioning (DP) applications. WESMAR Models V2-24 and V2-26 Vortex dual prop all stainless steel bow thrusters have joined the V2-20NS system, which received the design approval rating earlier this year. The horsepower ratings for the V2-24 and V2-26 range from 175 to 225, for operation on vessels up to 225 hp.
New RAmparts 3000 Tug for Boston Towing
Boston Towing and Transportation Company has taken delivery of the first of a new pair of tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, B.C., for offshore LNG Terminal support for the Neptune LNG LLC, Deep Water Port, offshore Massachusetts Bay. ABS Elects Corporate Officers
The ABS Board of Directors has elected two senior executives of the classification society to the position of Corporate Officers. Mark A. McGrath currently serving in the appointed role of President and Chief Operating Officer of the ABS Pacific Division and Kenneth L. Richardson who serves as Vice President of Energy Project Development now join the society’s executive management team. Both are ABS veterans.

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) recognized four individuals for their outstanding contributions to naval architecture and marine engineering. Harvey Bisso Launches Subsea Venture
Harvey Bisso Subsea has launched operations to provide subsea services to the energy and maritime industries. The centerpiece of the venture is a new, fully-classed 12-man Saturation Diving System with a working depth of 1,000 feet. The portable SAT system will be deployed from the Harvey Discovery, a 265 x 58-ft, DP2 certified multi-purpose support vessel outfitted with a 65-ton crane and moon pool. Workboats Exhibition and Conference Opens
