On January 22, 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a Proposed Rule on dispersants. The Proposed Rule drastically changes the EPA’s approach to dispersants and could imperil proven and effective means of responding to marine oil disasters. The Proposed Rule seems to be written from the perspective that dispersants are dangerous and should not be used and seeks to establish new toxicity and other standards.

Netherlands-based Royal IHC today named and launched new pipelaying sister vessels, Sapura Jade and Sapura Ônix, in ceremonies at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. Sapura Jade’s naming was performed by Belle de Bruin, managing director of the Indofin Group, following the naming of Sapura Ônix by Dahlia Abdul Aziz, spouse of Alex Monsen, JV board member and VP of newbuild/senior vice president of Seadrill.

Caterpillar Marine has completed the acquisition of ESRG Technologies Group, LLC, a vessel monitoring and data analytics company in the marine industry.
