Maersk Begins Reflagging Process
Maersk Line, Limited Brings the First of Two Project Cargo Ships Under the U.S. Flag. Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) completed the reflagging under U.S. registry of the MAERSK ILLINOIS, its newest multipurpose heavy-lift vessel. The ship is one of two sister vessels that MLL acquired in September 2011 and which will sail for Maersk-Rickmers U.S. Flag Project Carrier (Maersk-Rickmers), providing breakbulk and project cargo service for shippers requiring U.S. flag service.

The U.S. Navy and its shipbuilding partners have incorporated lessons learned from the first two Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) in the design and construction of the follow-on ships. “I think the lead ships are pretty good,” says Rear Adm. SeaHold GEOSHIPS expanded its fleet of multi-purpose offshore vessels. The two new vessels ‘Loch Erisort’ and ‘Loch Roag’ brings the Aberdeen-based firm’s fleet up to three, while also signifying a $140m in additional financial commitment. Gibraltar-based shiprepair yard Gibdock has added another name to its increasingly long list of clients in the offshore sector.
