Sener Wins Jury Prize
Sener was awarded the jury prize from Capital magazine in recognition of work carried out by the engineering firm in the city of Bilbao,Spain. Sener’s president, Jorge Sendagorta, received the award from general manager of Innobasque José María Villate Blanco during the ceremony at Bilbao’s city hall.
These awards, which recognize the efforts of organizations and institutions in areas as diverse as innovation, sustainability, development or culture, aimed to reward Sener for its "ability to reinvent itself" and for its commitment to "technology risk", two main features that distinguish many projects in which the company group has been involved, such as the LNG plant Gate terminal in the Netherlands, the Lublin airport in Poland and the solar thermal plant Gemasolar in Seville, Spain.
Among the group’s latest projects are the high-gain antenna gimbal (HGAG) used in the rover mission to Mars; the development of an aerodynamic sleeper called Aerotraviesa, which reduces the flying ballast phenomenon in high-speed rail traffic; the implementation of improvements in the FORAN System, a CAD/CAM software designed and patented by Sener and the marketing of the second generation of the cylindrical-parabolic troughs developed by Sener under the brand name Senertrough-2 system.
Other organizations awarded at the 2012 Bilbao Capital Magazine Awards were Puerto of Bilbao, Bilbao Ría 2000, Iberdrola, Progenika, Innobasque, Petronor, BBK, and the Guggenheim Museum and Idom, with whom Sener shared the Special Jury Prize.
