Korean Shipbuilders Gain Brunei LNG Carrier Order

Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad, BGC, orders its fourth large LNG carrier from Hyundai Heavy Industries

Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad, BGC has entered into an agreement for the construction of a new LNG Vessel with Hyundai Heavy Industries Limited of the Republic of Korea and arranged financing with both local and international financial institutions.

The Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office in his speech said that the signing was important to the country as it signified many other additional achievements and creates new opportunities for Brunei Darussalam's shipping industry and the oil and gas industry as a whole.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri,  Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia, Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin also said, the building of the fourth LNG Vessel demonstrates the nation's commitment to ensure the delivery of liquefied natural gas, LNG, safely and reliably.

The new LNG vessel will have a capacity for 154,800 cubic metres of cargo, will be the fourth to be bulit by Brunei Gas Carriers and is expected to be delivered in October 2014.
