Dryad Shortlisted for Safety at Sea Award

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

May 8, 2013

Dryad Maritime Intelligence announced that it has been short-listed in the management/operations category for their Fleet Security Management service in this years’ IHS Safety at Sea Awards. The awards recognize innovation and excellence while paying tribute to outstanding contributions made to the maritime safety industry. In this their seventh year, the awards celebrate the role that safety managers and manufacturers play in saving and protecting lives at sea across the international maritime safety market.

Dryad’s Fleet Security Management service is predominantly managed by former Royal Navy operations specialists with over 400 years collective service. This ensures the delivery of a level of service with understanding and support based upon real-time experience of operating in high risk areas, Dryad said. This experience, combined with in-house developed analytical techniques, technology systems and data from open, privileged and technical sources, enables Dryad to provide “fit for purpose” risk mitigation which determines threat geographically, historically and environmentally. Continual monitoring of a vessel’s passage allows Dryad to detect new security threats relevant to that voyage and alert crews and operators against them. In recent years this has mainly involved denying pirates the opportunity to target Dryad clients but the service includes all security threats including terrorism, robbery at anchor and general area disruption.

Aside from providing a service which mitigates the risk to seafarers, Dryad’s FSM also reduces the cost and administrative burden for Charterers and Owners by negotiating security contracts on the behalf of Owners and securing significant cost reductions by utilizing the select pool of Dryad-authenticated security providers.

Judged by an independent panel, the winners in each category will be announced at the seventh annual Safety ay Sea Awards Ceremony Dinner on board the historic ship, HMS Belfast in London on June 13, 2013.

The guest of honor at the awards ceremony in June, Tom Boardley, Chairman of IACS and Marine Director for Lloyds Register will present the shortlisted entrants with certificates, and the winners in each category with a trophy.
