Kongsberg Maritime simulators have been selected for Maersk Training's new centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The delivery to Maersk Training Brazil Treinamentos Maritimos LTDA is under a non-exclusive frame agreement signed earlier by Kongsberg Maritime and Maersk Training. The Kongsberg Offshore Vessel Simulator at Maersk Training Brazil will be operational in the second quarter 2013.

The new simulator package includes the advanced Kongsberg Offshore Vessel Simulator integrated with Kongsberg's K-Pos Dynamic Positioning Simulator, which will meet The Nautical Institute's class A requirements. The contract also includes a Long Term Service Support (LTSSP) agreement ensuring delivery of support and new software versions for a five year period.

The maritime industry will benefit from training on these state-of-the-art Kongsberg simulators, since offshore crews and specialists can practice on procedures and emergency situations prior to a mission. This ensures that all possible scenarios can be planned for, for every different operation," comments Hans Dürke Bloch Kjaer, Managing Director at Maersk Training Brasil. "Our new simulators will be highly flexible so our experienced staff will be able to develop customised anchor handling, DP courses as well as other types of maritime courses to meet the needs of the Brazilian market for all companies in the maritime and offshore maritime industry."

The Kongsberg Offshore Vessel Simulator is already used by established maritime training facilities around the world, including; EMAS Academy in Singapore, Superior Energy Services in Houston/Alaska, SimSea in Norway, Lerus Training in Ukraine and Maersk Training in Denmark.

During 2013 Maersk Training Brazil, Oceanografia S.A, Mexico and several other training organisations will start using the Kongsberg Offshore Vessel Simulator to train crew for demanding operations offshore.
