Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 21, 2005

According to reports, the Coast Guard saved a New Bedford fishing vessel that began taking on water on Sunday morning. The 42-ft. scalloper Seldom Home with its crew of three was 17 miles south of Nantucket when it made a distress call. A Coast Guard helicopter lowered a pump to the vessel and a motor lifeboat delivered a second pump. The Seldom Home decided to try and return to port, but began taking on water again and needed a third pump. The foundering vessel finally made it to Woods Hole at about 4:30 p.m. The cause of the flooding is under investigation. Source: Boston Channel
