A cargo ship carrying tons of coal sank off the coast of Somalia, and a rescue mission was under way to save the crew, said officials on Thursday.
Andrew Mwangura, head of the Kenyan chapter of the Seafarers Assistance Programme, said about 20 crew members were believed to be floating in life rafts since the MV Kanaya went down on Wednesday.
There was no evidence that the sinking was due to piracy, which had been a growing problem, off Somalia's coastline.
