Statement on T/V Anitra Oil Spill

The Fish and Wildlife Service issued a Notice stating that a draft of the Restoration Plan and Environmental Assessment for the tank vessel (T/V) ANITRA oil spill has been prepared. The oil spill occurred in Delaware Bay on May 10, 1996 and oiled approximately 50 miles of beaches, damaging some 4,000 shorebirds. The natural resource trustees are to receive $1.25 million in compensation and $250,000 for past assessment costs. Comments should be submitted by June 10, 2004. 69 Fed. Reg. 26178 (HK Law).
