Kiel Canal Status Update

The damaged vessel in the Kiel Canal has been towed to a safe layby berth, and restrictions in the fairway were lifted November 6.

On October 28, 2013, a cargo vessel collided with an LPG carrier in the Kiel Canal near Brunsbüttel, Germany, forcing the closure of the Kiel Canal. The canal reopened November 1.

The salvage of the vessel had been delayed and stopped due to instability this morning.
