The GL Group said it has recently strengthened its offshore team with two appointments: David Robertson who takes on the role of Head of Practice for the U.K. Marine and Offshore Project Management Services and Elaine Greig who is the new U.K. Head of Offshore at GL Garrad Hassan.

David Robertson’s career in renewables began after 13 years in the onshore petrochemical industry. He worked on a number of onshore wind farm projects, including managing the delivery of the Electrical Infrastructure and Grid Connection packages on the 322MW Whitelee onshore wind farm project for Scottish Power Renewables. At the GL Group he will lead the team delivering Offshore Wind project management contracts in the U.K., including the Borkum West II 200MW development in Germany.

Prior to the GL Group Mr Roberson, was a member of the Senior Management Team at SSE Renewables, where was responsible for the Walney and Galloper Joint Venture projects and the development of the construction strategy across SSE’s Offshore Wind Portfolio. Before joining SSE he carried out the Construction Project Management of the 90MW Rhyl Flats project and the preconstruction management of the 295MW Nordsee Ost project in Germany for RWE.

David’s appointment complements the recent recruitment of Elaine Greig, to the role of U.K. Head of Offshore at GL Garrad Hassan. Elaine joined GL Garrad Hassan from Vattenfall, where she was Project Director at the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre in Aberdeen and prior to this was the overall Project Manager for the financing and construction of the Edinbane wind farm on the Isle of Skye. Elaine brings with her over 20 years of experience in developing and constructing wind farm projects, from site finding and feasibility, to onshore and offshore operations.

GL Group companies have supported developers in managing offshore wind projects in the UK through Round 1, Round 2 notably the 300MW Thanet Wind Farm, commissioned in 2010, and now Round 3 and in Germany, notably the 200MW Borkum West II development. These appointments will help to forge and strengthen these customer relationships, while building the portfolio of work post-Borkum, the company said.
