H2O, Inc.: Taking the Risk out of Water

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

December 8, 2010

Water is often one of the last thoughts when it comes to safety on rigs, but it should be one of the first. The good news is that this is one of the easiest risks to eliminate.

“We thought bottled water was the answer,” said Bryan Courville of Coastal Production and Consulting. “But when we realized just how much water our platforms used that wasn’t bottled – water for ice machines, bathing, brushing teeth, washing laundry and dishes, and food preparation in the galley we realized how great of a safety risk we were chancing. What was even more surprising was how easy and cost-effective the fix was.”

The fix was not bottled water, but a truly potable water system that encompassed every drop of water on the platform. They turned to H2O, Inc. and its NoRisk System, which includes all of the equipment and technicians to supply water on demand - every drop of which is certified to meet government regulations. The system also reduces start-up and operating costs because you pay only for what you use, and there’s no cost during downtime. With H2O, Inc.’s NoRisk system, any platform can afford the necessity of truly potable water.

A completely potable water system is a safety necessity because it eliminates a long list of risks, including: unsanitary pumps, pipes and tanks on boats, injury during water delivery, unsanitary tanks and plumbing on platform, running low on water, violating the EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Act and other restrictions, code and guideline noncompliance, paying for water you don’t use, and the last and greatest risk - health hazards on your platform. And the NoRisk system makes it affordable to all rigs.

“Over the past 30 years, we have developed a program for systematically identifying and eliminating health and safety risks associated with your existing water plumbing and storage network,” explained H2O’s President Jess Fike.  This is why we start with a comprehensive Water Safety Plan. We go beyond providing the most advanced  equipment to safely produce and monitor your water supply, evaluating every aspect of your water system and providing your crew with the documentation and training necessary for thoroughly understanding and controlling water related risk.
