Global shipping giant Teekay LNG Partners can count itself as owner of the world’s most expensive fleet of whole gas (LPG and LNG) ships, worth a combined $6.9 billion, according to online ship intelligence and information service VesselsValue.com.

In its newest installment to the Most Expensive Fleet Series, VesselsValue compares the value of Teekay LNG Partners’ entire fleet with the prices of other costly items. For perspective, the $6.9 billion value of Teekay's LNG fleet is equivalent to 86 Wittelsbach-Graff diamonds, 13 private A380 jets airliners or six of the world's most expensive homes, according to the infographic.

According to our calculations, the $6.9 billion value of Teekay LNG Partners is equivalent to six NBA teams (average price $1.1 billion), 65,714 2015 Tesla Model S electric cars ($105,000) or 12,568,306 Apple Watches (most basic model $549).

The $6.9 billion sticker price for Teekay’s LNG fleet includes the 20 on order LNG vessels, whose newbuilding contract resale value is $4.7 billion, VesselsValue noted.
