Two Missing Aircraft Located Near Venezuela
C&C Technologies, Inc. in cooperation with SEA Corporation, the Italian and Venezuelan Authorities and Mr. Luca Missoni, confirm that two aircraft lost off the archipelago of Los Roques, Venezuela have been located and positively identified.
As of 3:50 p.m. local time on June 19, 2013 the missing LET L-410 aircraft (registration number YV-2081), was located by the crew of C & C’s Research Vessel SEA SCOUT. The LET L-410 was lost south of the island on January 4, 2008 carrying fourteen passengers and crew from Caracas, Venezuela to Los Roques.
The missing BN2 Islander aircraft (registration number YV-2615), was located on June 27, 2013 at 8:25 p.m. local time. The BN-2 Islander was lost north of the island on January 4, 2013 carrying six passengers and crew, including fashion design CEO Vittoio Missoni and his wife Maurizia Castiglioni.
Search operations were conducted by the, R/V SEA SCOUT, C & C’s purpose designed 134-foot aluminum hulled oceanographic catamaran vessel equipped with an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). The AUV’s sensor suite includes a Dual Frequency Chirp Side Scan Sonar, Chirp Subbottom Profiler, Multibeam Bathymetry and Imagery System, and a Camera Mosaicking System.
C & C pioneered the world's first commercially operated Autonomous Underwater Vehicle and has performed more than 300,000 kilometers of AUV surveys worldwide. This equates to 46,000 mission hours or circling the Earth at its equator seven and one- half times. C & C’s newest generation AUV system, C-Surveyor VI, incorporates Geochemical and Turbidity sensors, a Magnetometer, and a Scanning Laser Micro Bathymetry System.
