Guidance on Waterfront LNG Facilities

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

January 8, 2009

The US Coast Guard issued a Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) entitled Guidance related to Waterfront Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Facilities.  The purpose of the 56-page document is to provide guidance to: (1) an owner or operator seeking approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to build and operate a LNG facility, and (2) the Coast Guard as it assesses LNG marine operations under its regulations and fulfills its commitment to FERC.  This document supersedes the 2005 NVIC on assessing the suitability of waterways for LNG marine traffic.  NVIC 05-08 (12/22/08).
