USCG Studies S. Oregon Waterways

The Coast Guard is conducting a Waterways Analysis and Management System (WAMS) study of the southern Oregon coast from Cape Arago to the Oregon-California border including: Rogue River, Chetco River and Coquille River. The purpose of the WAMS is to validate the adequacy of the existing aids to navigation (ATON) system.

WAMS focuses on the waterway’s present ATON system, marine casualty information, port/harbor resources, changes in marine vessel usage (both recreational and commercial), and future development projects.

All comments are welcome until March 26, 2004. To participate in a user survey, please contact:

Additionally, the Coast Guard will be hosting a meeting to discuss issues related to this WAMS. Time and location for this meeting is still to be determined. If you are interested in attending this meeting please contact BM1 Tim Westcott for further information.
