MSG MarineServe GmbH, a  maritime training company, will act as the official ECDIS training agent for the Navico Simrad ECDIS systems.

The ECDIS training will be provided by MSG and its ‘ECDIS Training Consortium’ (ETC) or by sister company Safebridge GmbH using its innovative, online simulation, E-learning courses.

The courses will provide trainees with comprehensive instruction, leading to full certification upon completion, and also allow third party authorities and customers, such as Port State Control, to reference trainee database services. The course content will be delivered over original Simrad ECDIS software running either on dedicated, MSG controlled, local servers at each ETC partner’s classroom facilities under MSG’s remote control and management system or on the Safebridge server within its E-learning program for delivery online via the web. This allows practical training without the need to undertake traditional textbook teaching, so that trainees can experience using Simrad ECDIS systems first hand in a controlled environment.

Commenting on the agreement, President and CEO of Navico, Leif Ottosson said: “We are very pleased to offer our customers online training for Simrad ECDIS systems, this training enables operators across the globe to achieve the required type-specific training in a very flexible and cost efficient manner. The Simrad CS68 ECDIS was designed with input from experienced operators, with ease of use as one of our highest priorities. The service and experience that MSG provides is completely in line with our mission to provide the very the best products for safe navigation.”
