Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

July 1, 2005

Yanmar Marine USA Corporation introduced another engine in its new line of electronic control diesel engines, the 6LY3A-ETP, rated 480 hp @ 3,300 rpm. It is a turbocharged and intercooled in-line-six with four valves per cylinder. In testing, it achieved up to 10 percent better fuel consumption than the model it replaces. The 6LY3A-ETP complies with EPA Tier 2 emissions regulations. The technologically advanced electronic control provides constant power regulation and synchronizes engine speeds of twin and triple installations. Its torque-inducing, high-pressure fuel delivery system offers improved economy, reduced noise at idle and decreased smoke and fuel odor. The new 6LY3A-ETP communicates through the NMEA 2000 CAN-BUS system which allows for boat-wide network capability. The Yanmar LCD display unit provides full run-time engine data, including engine speed, percentage load, hours, battery voltage, coolant temperature, fuel usage rate, fuel level, and boost and oil pressure.
