Nine U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) faculty members visited the Hampton Roads area on June 4, as part of a professional development tour which included briefs, ship visits and a tour of the MSI Norfolk facility. These visits to various operational commands are designed to provide the faculty with a current perspective on technical, operational and political-military operations and relationships. All of the briefs attended by the faculty are designed to aid in their academic and professional development course work with midshipmen. Among other activities attended by the faculty included SH-60 helicopter familiarization rides, a tour of a guided missile destroyer and fast attack submarine, lunch aboard an the aircraft carrier, and a visit to an F/A-18 Hornet Squadron at Naval Air Station Oceana.
