USCG to Accept Rescue 21

The Coast Guard's Rescue 21 Acquisition Project will hold an Acceptance Ceremony and Demonstration at 203 New York Avenue on Staten Island in Coast Guard Sector New York on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10 a.m. Rescue 21 is the Coast Guard's critical command, control and communications acquisition project, offering cutting edge technology to mariners. TheCoast Guard's Rescue 21 Acquisition Project will hold an Acceptance Ceremony and Demonstration at 203 New York Avenue on Staten Island in Coast Guard Sector New York on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10 a.m. Rescue 21 is the Coast Guard's critical command, control and communications acquisition project, offering cutting edge technology to mariners. There will be a short video showcasing the system, followed by brief remarks by Coast Guard Rear Adm. Ronald Rábago, Program Executive Officer and Director of Acquisition Programs, and Capt. Robert R. O'Brien, Jr., Commander, Coast Guard Sector New York and Captain of the Port of New York / New Jersey. There will be two Question and Answer periods for media during the event. The advanced Rescue 21 system offers: Direction-finding capability. Reduction of coverage gaps along the coast. Enhanced playback capability improving clarity of calls. Digital archiving of calls. Increased (and simultaneous) channel monitoring capacity, ensuring all calls get through.
