JRC and Alphatron Marine announced they will exhibit at SMM in Hamburg, Germany. On display will be second generation bridges featuring a new level of operational ergonomics and user-friendliness, suited for the working environment for all mariners and applicable for all type of vessels.

JRC and Alphatron Marine will showcase a new fully integrated one-man bridge with a total of three 46-inch screens for use in law enforcement, semi military and/or coastal patrol vessels, combining radar, WECDIS (by Transas), conning, alarm monitoring and DP data in an easy to use format, and where all operating panels are within arm’s reach. A unique interfacing between thermal camera’s and WECDIS allows full integration with the vessel’s tactical mission specific parameters.

The AlphaBridge premium on show has no less than five 46-inch screens that provide a clear overview of all the navigation information. These monitors and the center console offers a safe and efficient operating environment and allows access to all the control panels and other equipment on the vessel, such as the lighting and engines. An advanced VSTEP simulator with 55-inch screen offers users the benefit of a unique navigation experience of the AlphaBridge.

Already 10 orders have been booked for the premium bridges utilizing 46-inch displays, of which six are built for the patrol vessel series for the coastguard operating in Trinidad & Tobago. Two are for LNG tankers ordered by Anthony Veder, another one is a special transport vessel Rotravente RoRo for Siemens windfarm construction and to end with a new general cargo ship concept from Wagenborg.

In the overhead of the AlphaBridge will be the AlphaLine Repeaters, a full lineup of instruments that are easy to operate via an intuitive color touch screen display, which is available in three standard sizes and two colors. In the center console we will have the first public viewing of three new products based on our uniform product philosophy, creating a consistent bridge and operational approach. We will show a new 6.5-inch autopilot with rotating button and touch display. Utilizing advanced track steering technology for safe and efficient operation, which is defined by its simplicity in usage. Secondly introducing a new 5-inch VHF, which is developed together with well-experienced captains operating on various types of vessels. Lastly the companies are demonstrating the AlphaSSRS, a new sound system reception system designed to receive and detect foghorn signals from other vessels.

Also on display will be a tugboat bridge offering full control from a sitting position and exceptional all-round visibility. The bridge comprises of two ergonomic and dynamically designed consoles with a central captain’s chair mounted on rails. The consoles contain the majority of controls and instruments required to operate the tug with at each end a semi-retractable screen for radar or other multifunction screen displaying navigation and other operational data.

This second generation tugboat bridge includes many enhancements that contribute to an improved ergonomic working area. Newly incorporated into the design are non-reflective displays, improved winch control operated on a large 8.4-inch display and bridge dimming divided in three areas, connected with LED lighting in the overhead. Also other practical improvements to the operator is a place for a mobile phone, USB charging facility, multiple cup holders and documentation storage. Today, the number of orders received are increasingly rapidly with over 35 tugs now on the current list.
