W&O Europe expands operations into Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar; company forms distribution partnership with Puerto y Bahía

W&O, a global supplier to the marine and marine offshore markets for pipe, valves and fittings, valve automation and engineered solutions, announced the expansion of its European operations into Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar through a strategic partnership with Puerto y Bahía, a marine supply company headquartered in Cadiz, Spain. Together, W&O Europe and Puerto y Bahia will be providing customers a number of products, with a focus on DIN and JIS valves.

“Establishing operations in Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar through our partnership with Puerto y Bahía is a key component in cultivating a network of distribution points throughout southern Europe,” said Kristof Adam, managing director of W&O’s European operations. “This partnership will place W&O products at one of the busiest sea crossings in the world. W&O Europe has made significant steps over the past year to achieve our long-term global growth objectives, and this partnership is a key element to reaching those objectives and serving our growing customer base.”

W&O Europe’s partnership with Puerto y Bahía opens the door to a number of strategic locations and ports, the company said. The two companies will serve repair and newbuild customers at the Ferrol and Bilbao ports. An additional key point of service is Puerto’s position in the Canary Islands. Here, the companies will directly service vessels that are en route to Europe, Africa, the Atlantic and offshore platforms. Both W&O Europe and Puerto y Bahía will provide local inventory and personalized support on all projects at these and other strategic locations.

Puerto y Bahía was founded in 1979 and remains a family-run establishment under the leadership of the founder’s son, Rafael Fernandez Bernal. The company began as a general ships supplier in the port of Cadiz, and has expanded into new industries and product offerings over the years. These include: the cruise industry, the navy (including US Naval of Rota), competitive transportation and product deposit under duty-free goods status, customs management, ship repairs, check and inspections and a supply of marine and industrial materials.
