CaroTrans Adopts CargoSmart’s Solutions

CaroTrans, a global NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier) and ocean freight consolidator, has announced adoption of CargoSmart’s Japan AFR (advanced filing rules) management solution to effectively address Japan’s new compliance requirement which goes into effect March 10th with no grace period.  NVOCCs and ocean carriers are required to electronically submit filings for all Japan-bound ocean cargo or receive substantial penalties for not filing.  Well before the approaching deadline, CaroTrans successfully modified its proprietary system and had its team trained and ready to accommodate the new regulation.  CaroTrans is using EDI and online functionality of CargoSmart’s AFR solution.

Dashboard monitoring, a component of the CargoSmart solution, provides CaroTrans with visibility to filings and their status, and helps avoid the risk of missing filings.  They also allow for timely notifications to customers and the effective management of this process to boost operational efficiency.

"We are pleased that CaroTrans is leveraging CargoSmart's online and EDI solutions to comply with Japan's Advance Filing Rules," said Kim Le, director of CargoSmart North America. "CargoSmart's solutions connect CaroTrans' network of offices and agents to interact and ensure shipments globally are in compliance."

“CaroTrans’ team is fully equipped to submit the necessary freight information on-time and accurately for Japan’s AFR.  We are committed to complying with these important regulations to ensure the safety and security of global trade,” said Greg Howard, global CEO of CaroTrans.
