DSME Taps GTT to Equip Maran’s New LNG Carriers

GTT said it has received an order from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to equip two new LNG carriers scheduled for delivery in 2019.

The vessels will be built at DSME's shipyard in Geoje, Korea, on behalf of Maran Gas Maritime, a Greek management company, and will be equipped with GTT's NO96 cryogenic membrane containment system.

“This order reinforces our long-standing relationship with DSME who has already received 147 ship orders with the NO96 technology,” said Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GTT. “With a fleet of 20 vessels, entirely equipped with membrane solutions, Maran Gas Maritime is a major player of the maritime industry. This new contract reflects the level of confidence between Maran Gas Maritime, the Korean shipbuilding industry and GTT.”

Globally there are 143 vessels equipped with the NO96, and 59 more are on order. Since the launch of this technology in 1996, GTT has constantly developed the NO96 solution, based on feedback from operational experience at sea. These evolutions allow, among other things, to match the requirements of the latest propulsion systems.
