The Charleston Water Taxi is in business. The taxi started running earlier Monday, shuffling commuters between Mount Pleasant and Charleston.
The trip costs $5 one way, $8 round trip or $12 for a day pass. Docking at the Charleston Harbor Marina and the Maritime Center, the water ride makes 12 stops a day. It's owners say their goal is to help commuters avoid traffic and parking problems downtown.
The boat can hold 49 passengers and in the Springtime the taxi hopes to add more stops to it's commute.
