LBO Cofferdam Online Riser Repair
LBOs cofferdam concept for riser repair is tailor made for each project. Repair works can be executed while the riser is in operation, maintaining production and therefore saving cost.
LBO skills and equipment are applied on specific projects for the repair of risers using a cofferdam solution.
The LBO cofferdam concept was first used in 2002 on the Heidrun platform in the Norwegian Sea. Since each project may require different specifications, the equipment is custom made to suit the needs of each specific project. LBO offshore supervisors make site inspection visits to assess and evaluate requirements, while the LBO engineering team prepares 3D CAD models and scans of the relevant installation structure. The repair work can be executed while the riser is in operation, thus maintaining production.
LBO does not require diver assistance at any time. When working in the cofferdam, the escape route is always up, never through the water. This solution is safer than the traditional cofferdam systems which require divers to operate.
LBO provides engineering studies, assessments and solutions that apply safe, efficient methods during the project execution phase. LBO also provides detailed design of any auxiliary support structures that may also be required to assist with safe installation.
Project procurement is performed by the LBO Purchasing Department. Close monitoring and qualification of LBO suppliers helps to secure quality and on-time delivery.
A crew of multi skilled personnel is trained to perform the offshore inspection or maintenance work. By means of special lifting and rigging the LBO crew will install the cofferdam at the desired location. In addition, the offshore teams work closely with the LBO Engineering Department to ensure that modern innovative equipment and methods are always utilized. The LBO technicians are working with IRATA or SOFT Rope Access Techniques.
