Landing School Receives Grant from Collectors Foundation

The Landing School, a post-secondary institution focused on educating tomorrow's marine industry professionals, announced they have received a grant from the Collectors Foundation, an educational grant-making organization founded by Hagerty Insurance and funded by classic vehicle and boat enthusiasts.

The Landing School first received grant money from the Collectors Foundation in 2005. Since then, the Foundation has granted $50,000 to The Landing School, which in turn has helped 50 students achieve their goal of attaining a diploma or associate degree through The Landing School.

"The generosity of the Collectors Foundation has had a tremendous positive impact on our students. Without Collectors Foundation contributions, many of the students who received scholarships may not have continued their education. With much needed financial help, 45 students are now well on their way to a lifelong career in the marine industry in addition to five incoming students who will also benefit from that generosity," said Barry Acker, Landing School Director of Advancement.

"The students and the staff here at The Landing School are equally grateful to the Collectors Foundation. It is because of groups like these that countless students across the country can attain their goals and enjoy a career that might otherwise have gone unfulfilled," said Bob DeColfmacker, Landing School President.

For students to receive a Collectors Foundation grant, the Landing School financial aid staff selects those students who are in the greatest need, and based on the request from the Collectors Foundation, will achieve a diploma or associate degree in Wooden Boat Building (Cruising Boats or Small Boats option).
