Alewijnse Commissions Three Pilot Station Vessels

Alewijnse Noord BV in Drachten recently the largest order in the history of the company scored. It involves the construction of electrical systems on board three new Pilot Station Vessels for the pilotage. The vessels are built by Barkmeijer Shipyards.

Barkmeijer Shipyards Stroobos building commissioned by the Pilotage three new ships. The 'pilot station vessels' function offshore as accommodation for the crew of the pilot boats. The vessels have a length of more than 80 meters. The three ships will be built over the next four years. The construction of the first ship is already underway.

Largest order ever

The design, engineering and installation of equipment on board the three ships means North Alewijnse an order worth over 10 million euros. This makes it the largest order in the history of the company. Alewijnse North realizes its own house in Drachten, the total engineering, supply of all electrical installation, automation, power distribution, switchboards and consoles and also handles installation and commissioning on site in Stroobos.

Employment in the Northern Netherlands

The order of Barkmeijer means employment for twenty employees Alewijnse North BV during a period of three years. It is unique that the three ships in full (Northern) Netherlands are built. Ships of this size are often outsourced to low wage countries in shipyards. With close cooperation between Barkmeijer, Alewijnse Noord BV and other interested parties can efficiently ship built in the Netherlands. This contributes to long-term contract for employment in the Northern Netherlands.
