United Yacht Transport LLC, a Fort Lauderdale based yacht transport company, says it has committed to building a semi-submersible vessel scheduled for delivery in the second tax quarter of 2015.

United Yacht believes that the conversion of a Panamax size bulk vessel will produce the world’s largest yacht transport vessel with a cargo capacity exceeding 40,000 dwt. The completed dimensions of this vessel will be 229.00m x 46.00m (755’ x 151’), allowing for passage in the newly widened Panama Canal. Certain market conditions in the dry bulk shipping industry have led to a substantial reduction in the value of bulk vessels, therefore creating an opportunity for the development of a lower cost semi-submersible vessel.

“We are committed to meeting the demand from our large-yacht clients. It is this commitment that has led to the decision for further investment into the industry. We believe this investment will ensure the large-yacht community a safe, reliable means of transportation," said Paul Haber, Chief Operating Officer for United Yacht Transport.

The company's primary delivery routes include North America, Caribbean, Central America, Mediterranean, Middle East and Asia.
