Julie Treon has been named manager, marketing communications in Ashland’s Corporate Affairs Department with responsibility for Ashland Specialty Chemical Company, effective June 2. The announcement was made by Martha Johnson, vice president, divisional communications, and director, corporate communications, Ashland Inc.
Treon will be responsible for marketing communications planning and execution, including brand management and positioning, product publicity, advertising and collateral material, web content, tradeshows, media relations and related activities. She also will serve on the Ashland Specialty Chemical Leadership Team, which reports to Gary Cappeline, president, Ashland Specialty Chemical Company.
“I am excited to welcome Julie to Ashland,” Cappeline said. “She brings diverse experience in business communications for technology-driven industries, and I look forward to the contributions she will make toward strengthening our position in our chosen markets through highly focused marketing communications.”
Treon most recently served as director of marketing and customer service at Arc Abrasives (Troy, Ohio), where she created and managed a brand identity for the company. She also has held positions of marketing manager with LexisNexis (Dayton, Ohio), and communications manager at NCR (Dayton, Ohio). A 1990 graduate of the University of Dayton, Treon has earned IABC/International Gold Quill and other marketing and communications awards.
