Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) today inform that the coal carrier 'Energy Prometheus',to be operated by MOL to ship coal to Hokuriku Electric Power Company, has been completed at the Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Oshima Shipyard.

People from Hokuriku Electric Power and other concerned companies gathered for the ship's christening and delivery ceremonies add MOL.

With its wider beam and reduced depth, this vessel can serve ports with less depth while maximizing cargo loading. With its wide, shallow draft hull, and the advanced equipment on board, the vessel should show excellent economic performance.

The coal carrier is named Energy Prometheus after the MOL operated coal carrier that served Hokuriku ports with coal for Hokuriku Electric Power in the past. With a long-term consecutive voyage service contract in hand, the coal carrier will play a central role in the supply of coal for Hokuriku Electric Power.

Main particulars:

  • Length: 228.4m
  • Breadth: 36.5m
  • Depth: 19.89m
  • Deadweight Tonnage: 85,555 MT
