Domiat Salvage Complete by Multraship Multraship Salvage has just completed the successful salvage of the 38,391dwt bulk carrier Domiat which ran aground near Copenhagen at the beginning of June this year. The LR-classed vessel was loaded with 33,000 tons of potash, bound from St. Petersburg to India, when it ran aground at speed on a rocky shoal. Commenting on the salvage Multraship’s managing director Leendert Muller said :”This was a tricky job given the lack of suitable discharge equipment available in the area to handle the cargo on site. We were able to mobilize teams from Terneuzen and to get the job done with no pollution or leakage. The ship is now reloaded and on its way. This confirms our ability to provide rapid reaction salvage services right across the European region.” A salvage team of eight from the Dutch salvage company used three tugs including Multraship’s 42 tonne bollard pull Barracuda, a barge and a garb system to lighten, refloat, reposition and reload the 1985-built bulker.
