Simrad HALO Pulse Compression Radar has been awarded the Technology Award at the 2015 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) Conference and Expo in Baltimore, Md.

The NMEA 2015 Technology Award is judged by an independent panel of experts recognizing exceptionally innovative consumer marine products. Each entry was evaluated based on “innovation, benefit to boaters, practicality and value.”

Simrad HALO Pulse Compression Radar is the world’s first high-performance, solid-state, open-array radar system with pulse-compression technology, suitable for recreational and light marine markets. Combining the advantages of Broadband Radar and traditional pulse radar systems, HALO Pulse Compression Radar provides navigational visibility and awareness, as close as 20feet, within the pulse radar’s short-range “blind spot,” where once only Broadband Radar could operate — all while offering exceptional long-range performance.

“We continue to bepleased with the attention HALO Pulse Compression Radar has received by industry insiders as well as our customers,” said Leif Ottosson, CEO of Navico. “This is the second award for technological innovation that HALO radar has received in the past 30 days and the third since it was released in April. When HALO was revealed publicly, we announced it as a revolution in recreational radar and it is clear that industry experts agree. HALO gives users a combination of short- and long-range precision and tremendous ease of use— all in an affordable package for this level of radar performance.”

In September 2015, Simrad HALO Pulse Compression Radar also won the National Marine Manufacturers Association Innovation Awardin the OEM Electronics category at the International BoatBuilders' Exhibition & Conference(IBEX). In May 2015, the radar system won the New Zealand Boat Show Most Innovative Local Product Award.
