Tankship, Gas Carrier, Containership Newbuilds: Latest Orders

Reported business this week has been focussed on the tanker, container and gas markets, says Clarkson Hellas in their latest S&P Weekly Bulletin.

Tankships
Whilst under discussion for some months, Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers have now signed two firm plus two optional 160,000dwt Shuttle Tankers at HHI. Delivery of the firm vessels is planned from end 2016, with options into 2017.

In Japan, a yet unknown European owner is understood to have contracted a single 50,000dwt MR product tanker at Onomichi, with delivery in late 2018. No pricing has been disclosed.

Gas carriers

A number of orders in gas are reported by Clarkson Hellas, starting with the largest sizes, BW Gas have confirmed an order for two firm 173,400cbm LNG carriers at DSME. The price is yet to be confirmed however delivery was announced for end 2017 / early 2018.

Both HHI and DSME have seen options declared for 84,000cbm VLGCs. Aurora LPG Holding have added a further two vessels to their series at HHI, taking the total to six, with delivery in 2016.

Whilst at DSME, China Peace also increased their series to six vessels, with the latest two additions delivering in early 2017. Pricing for these two options at DSME is understood to lie in the region of USD 80 Mill.

Container ships
Finally in the container sector, COSCO Container Lines have announced a new order for five 14,500TEU container vessels. These will be built at the Hudong controlled Shanghai Jiangnan Changxing facility and are provisionally scheduled to deliver in 2017 and 2018.
