MGI Wins Contract Bid with Brittany
Following a competitive tender organized by the Brittany Regional Council, MGI was selected to implement the "Brittany's Digital Ports" project, intended to set up a single electronic window for the region's ports of Brest, Lorient and Saint-Malo.
The region said it was favorably impressed by MGI's business credentials, logistics and technical skills, and the quality of its field teams in awarding the bid.
The Cargo Community System (CCS) AP+, a single window for cargo, will be introduced at Brittany's port installations. The process design phase, assigned a double objective of recording client needs and determining suitability of the AP+ window for current processes, was conducted during April and May.
The CCS AP+ will be shared across the three regional ports of Brest, Lorient and Saint-Malo.
AP+ connects the entire array of shipping professionals, from both the private sector (freight forwarders, shipping agents, shipowners, terminal operators, pre post routing) and public sector (Customs, Port Authority, veterinary and phytosanitary inspections), involved in managing the movement of cargo through ports.
AP+ will accelerate this cargo movement, in offering improved traceability and security for Brittany's ports.
At present, AP+ covers 94% of total shipping traffic using France's European ports.
AP+ is the very first trimodal Cargo Community System integrating land, sea and air transport processes.
The CCS, undergoing constant development, takes into account current and forecast professional logistics needs in addition to governing and regulatory requirements. It benefits from extensive feedback from the port communities having already implemented it by adapting to their specific features.
AP+ meets the European e-Maritime directive by easing information exchanges and by creating interfaces with all computer systems, including the ship's Port Single Window.
Sogyp, an MGI and Soget subsidiary, is taking part in national work groups organized by the General Directorate for Transport to integrate the latest national and international regulations into AP+.
Behind the screens / MMIs kept for user comfort and efficiency, the technical infrastructure was completely renewed in 2010 and continues to be regularly updated.
