The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) issued a Press Notice stating that it and the U.S. Coast Guard coordinated the rescue of a single-handed British ocean rower in the Pacific approximately 1600 miles west of the United States. Falmouth Coastguard received an alert from the rower’s distress beacon and then contacted the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska. The USCG vectored the container ship HANJIN PHILADELPHIA to the location.
