The arrival of Celebrity Cruises' Infinity in San Diego Harbor today officially kicks off cruise season at the Port of San Diego.

The 2,170-passenger cruise ship Infinity sailed into San Diego harbor today as part of a nine-night Pacific coastal cruise that begins and ends in San Francisco, making visits to Monterey, Santa Barbara, Catalina and Ensenada.

The Port of San Diego currently expects 65 cruise ship arrivals over the course of its cruise season, which runs from September through May.

October will be a busy cruise month for the port, with the Disney Wonder arriving on October 1 for a three-night Baja cruise. The vessel will return for three five-day Baja cruises that begin and end at the Port of San Diego.

According to the port, other highlights in October include a 15-day Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Cruise Lines' Norwegian Sun, and an 18-day Inca Discovery Cruise on Holland America Lines' Zaandam.

Lines homeported in San Diego include Disney Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Holland America Line and Celebrity Cruises, each homeported cruise brining an economic impact of $2 million on average to the region from passenger spending, businesses servicing the vessel, transportation services, crew spending and more.
