Dometic Marine Compact Chilled Water Systems

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

March 9, 2011

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) specialist Dometic Marine will launch the Marine Air Chiller Compact to the commercial, work boat and military markets at this year's Seawork International. Featuring an innovative and compact space-saving design, the chilled water system is suitable for a range of applications including cooling of on-board spaces and marine electronics.

The Marine Air Chiller Compact provides 16,000 to 24,000 BTUs (British thermal unit) and easily attaches to air handlers to provide ideal temperatures in the pilothouse or crew accommodation areas. For vessels working in warmer climates, the chilled water system can be used as a dedicated cooling aid for navigation, safety and communications electronics to avoid overheating and ensuring their continued operation even in high temperatures.

"We have recently received an increase in demand from our commercial and military customers to provide a small chilled water solution dedicated to the cooling of the vessel's electronics," comments Paul Hickinbotham, Director of Sales & Operations, Dometic Marine. "With a footprint of only 292 x 457 mm, the Chiller Compact requires minimal space in the engine room to provide significant cooling capacity."

Featuring a small, modular design, the Marine Air Chiller Compact is easy to install and uses fewer moving parts to ensure a reliable and robust solution. It minimises the space requirement in the engine room and rotary or scroll compressors increase power-efficiency while also reducing noise. Multiple modules can be integrated in the system to provide additional capacity.
