W&O Employees Benefit American Lung Assoc.

W&O, supplier of marine valves, pipe, fittings, engineered products and valve automation solutions, announced its participation in two of the American Lung Association’s Stair Climb fundraisers in Jacksonville, Fla., and Houston, Texas.  Twenty-three employees, including W&O CEO Jack Guidry and members of senior leadership, combined to climb 1,658 steps and raise $4,600.

“Having both our Houston and Jacksonville offices participate in these events illustrates our employees’ nationwide dedication to the American Lung Association and to team physical expression,” said Jack Guidry, President and CEO of W&O.  “W&O and its employees have always been focused on giving back to the community and overall personal wellness, and participation in these events aligns perfectly with our philanthropic philosophy as well as our W&O: We Are Fit employee wellness program.”

The Houston team won the award for the largest team participating in the 2009 Fight For Air Climb, which was held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the 41-story Marathon Oil Tower in Houston, Texas.  Twelve Houston-based employees participated, raising $1,950 on behalf of the American Lung Association. Team member Kayon Beverly was the fastest on the team, completing the event in less than 10 minutes.  The 12 Houston-based employees included Team Captain Allen Fuller, Scott Armstrong, Kayon Beverly, Natisha Broussard, David Diaz, Charlotte Earls, Brandon Pitre, Jennifer Pyle, Rodrigo Serrato, India Shelby, Ivan Torres and Rolando Valle. 

The American Lung Association of Florida’s Climb Jacksonville event took place on February 7, 2009 at the 42-story Bank of America Tower.  Eleven Jacksonville-based employees climbed 838 steps and collectively raised $2,665, exceeding their original goal by more than 260 percent.

At the Jacksonville event, W&O CEO Jack Guidry won third place in his age group and was recognized as one of the top-five fundraisers of the event.  Alex Piquer and Nicki Emerson both took first place in their respective age groups, while Colin Luke placed third in his age group and fourth out of all climbers.  Eleven W&O employees took part in the race, including Jack Guidry, President & CEO; Kyle Posey; Carl Herman; Colin Luke; Tammy Emerson; Nicki Emerson; Alex Piquer; Art Parrish; Jeanne Robinson; Colleen Binkley and Maureen O’Sullivan.

The 2009 Stair Climb events in Houston, Texas and Jacksonville, Fla., raised more than $209,978 for the American Lung Association. Annual Stair Climb events take place in numerous cities throughout the nation and represent one set of fundraising opportunities for the American Lung Association. The mission of the American Lung Association is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
