Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has received International Standards Organization (ISO) certification for the environmental management systems at the company’s Sperry Marine facilities in Europe.

The Certificate of Conformance from ABS Quality Evaluations confirms that Sperry Marine’s environmental management system meets the requirements of the ISO 14001:2004 standard. The certification applies to the Sperry Marine offices in Antwerp, Belgium; Copenhagen, Denmark; Hamburg, Germany; Vlaardingen, Netherlands; Bergen, Norway; and New Malden, U.K.

The ISO 14001:2004 standard is a management tool enabling an organization to identify and control the environmental impact of its activities, products or services; improve its environmental performance continually; implement a systematic approach to setting environmental objectives and targets; and demonstrate they have been achieved. It does not specify levels of environmental performance but establishes a framework and strategic approach for the company’s environmental policy, plans and actions.

Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine, headquartered in Charlottesville, Va., and with major engineering and support offices in New Malden, United Kingdom and Hamburg, Germany, provides smart navigation and ship control solutions for the international marine industry with customer service and support through offices in 16 countries, sales representatives in 47 countries and authorized service depots in more than 250 locations worldwide.
