AMSA Seeks Input from SAR Equipment Providers

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

April 1, 2014

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) made an announcement inviting input from potential service providers into the research phase of its Search and Rescue (SAR) Equipment Support Services Tender.

AMSA outsources all SAR logistics, maintenance and training support services to a contractor, and its current contract will expire in 2015.

Potential service providers who could offer equipment support and maintenance services for AMSA’s upcoming SAR Equipment Support Services Tender are encouraged to contact AMSA in writing to provide information about how they could deliver this service.

The new SAR Support Service Contractor will be required to provide AMSA with part or all of a complete logistics, maintenance and audit/training support services package, which includes storage, distribution and dispatch of SAR equipment to locations throughout Australia.

SAR equipment includes aircraft component items such as cargo anchors and restraints, aircrew safety (dropmaster) harnesses, aviation lifejackets, liferafts, de-watering pumps, sea-surface anchor kits, survival kits, parachute assemblies, Light Stores Canisters (LSC) and Self-Locating Datum Marker Buoys (SLDMB).

Further details of this activity and instructions on how to respond can be found at https://www.tenders.gov.au/?event=public.atm.show&ATMUUID=D0CFC028-A970-BB73-F285156EE9E9131F.

The closing date for submissions is 5 p.m. AEST April 28, 2014.

AMSA advises that participation in this activity will not be a condition of participation in the planned SAR Equipment Support Services Tender process.
