Furetank and Älvtank Extend LNG Tanker Order

Furetank and Älvtank extend the order with two more of next generation Intermediate Product/Chemical Tankers with LNG propulsion. Furetank Rederi AB and Rederi AB Älvtank have added the previous order with two more newbuildings.

Last year a contract signed by the constellation Furetank, Älvtank and Thun Tankers to let build four chemical/product tanker in the intermediate segment of the Chinese shipyard Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding.

The vessels will be built with special focus on minimal impact on the environment, with close to 50 percent reduction of CO2 emissions. The vessels fulfill the Tier III rules, have dual fuel/LNG propulsion including LNG in port consumption, LNG for Inert gas production, power production with floating frequency, battery backup (UPS) for all vital functions to minimize use of auxiliary engines, installed ballast water cleaning system, ice class 1A and Alternative Propulsion System.
 
The vessels will also be built at Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd to the same design as the others. The vessels – of which Furetank and Älvtank will own one each, will be delivered during 2018/2019. Together with the previous order Gothia Tanker Alliance has now six state of the art modern tanker vessels in order, whereof Furetank have three, Älvtank two and Thun Tankers one.
 
The vessels will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering in the Gothia Tanker Alliance.
