September 10, 2019

G2 Ocean, a joint venture of two of the world's leading breakbulk and bulk shipping companies - Gearbulk and Grieg Star, hired three new Senior Project Cargo Managers and opens offices in Houston and Hamburg.

Since the launch of G2 Ocean in 2017, the company has worked strategically to achieve a stronger position within the project cargo segment.

“Our project cargo results are continuously improving, and I am impressed by our team’s efforts. However, we have high ambitions for the future and to stay on target, we need additional resources”, says VP Innovation and Project Cargo Leif Arne Strømmen in G2 Ocean.

To further develop and strengthen G2 Ocean’s Project Cargo activities, the company is hiring three new Senior Project Managers with valuable Project Logistics experience from various industry segments.

Two of the new members will be based in Houston and Hamburg, while the third will work at G2 Ocean’s office in Singapore.

“We currently lack presence in Houston and Hamburg and new office representations in these key project markets will enable us to offer diversified services towards new industries and customers”, Strømmen says.

Houston is the capital of Projects worldwide, and all the large Engineering Procurement and Construction companies, controlling projects worldwide, are based there

Cliff Kuhfeldt is G2 Ocean’s new Senior Project Manager in Houston and starts his new job on Monday, September 9.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me. I am very excited to join G2 Ocean, learn from other members of the company, as well as pass along the knowledge and skills that I have acquired over my 22-year long career”, he says.

Kuhfeldt holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Marketing and Management. His previous position was with Bahri Logistics, where he served as the Senior Regional Manager Sales South.

“I hope to make G2 Ocean as one of the premier ocean carriers of Project and General cargo worldwide”, Kuhfeldt says.

G2 Ocean currently has a strong position in the onshore wind market, which gives a robust basis for project business. Strengthening G2 Ocean’s position in new industry segments will be an important task for the new managers.

“G2 Ocean has a strong position in the pulp market, giving us a robust basis for our operations. Still, developing a diversified customer base within other industry segments is critical to reducing the risk of disruption in the market”, Leif Arne says.
