MJM Group Buys Mivan

MJM Group Chairman Brian McConville announced that he has bought Mivan out of administration. Established in 1983 by the McConville family, MJM Group refurbishes Cruise Liners, Ferries, Super Yachts, luxury hotel and leisure facilities, office and retail and private residential. Mivan, one of Northern Ireland's best known construction companies, was founded by Ivan McCabrey in 1975 and specialized in fitting out cruise ships and high-end commercial and residential developments.

Earlier this week, Mivan announced that they have ceased trading, but this news means that the Mivan brand will continue.

“There are obvious synergies between the two operations which will allow us great efficiencies and economies of scale. Initially we expect to create 40-50 jobs in Antrim from the existing local skilled workforce and we believe that, by implementing the efficient work practices that have underpinned our growth to date, we can drive the Mivan brand back to its former glory,” said Brian McConville, Chairman of MJM Group.

MJM Group intends to operate Mivan as a separate entity.

With contracts successfully completed across five continents, MJM Group has earned a reputation for its unique fast track project management style and consistent high quality of its finished products and services.

Projects in the office and retail sector successfully completed by MJM include the Victoria Square Retail Centre in Belfast, Harrod’s in London, the University of Edinburgh and Dublin International Airport. Their impressive portfolio also includes the K-Club in Co. Kildare, the Sheraton Resort at Fota Island in Cork, Fire Restaurant at the Mansion House in Dublin, The Mandarin Oriental, The Bulgari Hotel, The W Hotel and The Lancaster Hotel (all in London).

MJM Group’s cruise client base includes Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, The World Residensea, P&O Cruises & Star Cruises. They carried out the major re-fit works to the $150m conversion of the Carnival Destiny to Carnival Sunshine in 2013.
