Adonis AS (Adonis), a provider of global maritime HR solutions, announced that Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) has implemented Adonis Personnel Manager (APM) to automate crew planning processes for its multinational maritime workforce. The solution will enable PGS to simplify the management of crew rotations and centralize major crewing processes, such as Visa applications, work permits and compliance with maritime requirements (offshore certificates, valid medical certificates, etc.), all from a single platform.

Headquartered in Oslo, Norway, PGS provides a range of seismic and reservoir services, including acquisition, imaging, interpretation and field evaluation with more than 600 seismic crew living in 47 countries. Previously, PGS managed rotations using spreadsheets for each onboard seismic department. The goal was to find and implement a central system that could handle current and future complexity, integrate with web services and other systems within the company's firewall (HR database, payroll system), reduce the need for double entry in various systems, and automate all related processes.

"We looked at a lot of different software, including airline software, but it was either too complex or not complex enough. Adonis struck the right balance," said Mark Jack Smith, VP of HR Operations for PGS. "Whereas crew planning was often inefficient and an iterative process, APM flags people during the planning stages, letting us know the issues and needs without interrupting workflow. Going forward, Adonis will allow us to effectively automate processes and create a platform for improved connectivity and improved efficiency in communication across our entire fleet."

Erick Meijer, Adonis Product Director, said, "PGS vessels are crewed by multinational teams with highly specialized skill sets, from mechanics to geophysicists, posing a number of difficult challenges, from assuring efficient crew rotations to compliance with a broad range of maritime requirements. We worked closely with PGS's team in integrating APM with their other HR and payroll systems, and customizing the platform to meet their highly specialized crewing demands."
