Juneau-based Coast Guard investigators are determining the cause of an engine-room fire that occurred Monday on the motor vessel Safari Quest while transiting Fredrick Sound with 29 people on board.
The crew of the Safari Quest contacted the Coast Guard at 5:10 p.m., reporting their left engine disabled as a result of the fire. Still under their own power, the 120-ft. cruise ship steamed into Petersburg at 8:10 p.m. where Coast Guard investigators will rendezvous with them today.
