Japanese Navy Ship Teruzuki Visits India

 Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Ship Teruzuki visited Kochi from 09 to 11 September 2017. Captain Masashi Kondo, Commander Escort Division Six is sailing onboard JS Teruzuki, a destroyer which is being commanded by Commander Seiichi Hashimoto. 

 
Captain Masashi Kondo, Commander Escort Division Six accompanied by the Commanding Officer of Japanese Ship Teruzuki had called on Rear Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, VSM, the Chief Staff Officer (Training) of Southern Naval Command (SNC) on 09 September 2017 wherein professional subjects of common interest to both navies were discussed. 
 
On 10 September 2017, Atsushi Miura, Superintendent Japan Coast Guard,  and Commanding Officer of Somalia Dispatch Investigation Team, who was also part of the visiting delegation, had called on  Commander, Coast Guard district 04 at District Headquarters No 4, Fort Kochi.
 
The visiting JMSDF personnel were given a conducted tour of Anti-submarine Warfare School. In addition, a friendly Football match between naval personnel from both navies were also conducted.
 
The crew from the JMSDF Teruzuki also visited places of interest at Fort Kochi, Marine Drive and Museums etc, during their stay at Kochi. JMSDF ship Teruzuki is on return passage to Japan after having completed her operational anti- piracy deployment along with naval units from Combined Maritime Forces, in Gulf of Aden and North Arabian Sea.
 
India traditionally has been enjoying warm relations with Japan due to shared historical and cultural heritage going back thousands of years. In recent past, the India - Japan relations have shown an upswing and defence cooperation in particular, has attained a soaring trajectory through increased number of ships, high level delegation visits and training exchanges.
