Kooiman to Repair MTS Julius Rütgers

Eiltank Schiffart GmbH & Co KG has placed the order for the repair of the inland waterway tanker vessel Julius Rütgers Shipyard with the shipyard Gerb. Kooiman B.V.  Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands.


MTS Julius Rütgers was seriously damaged after the explosion of some cargo tanks. The midship area is heavily deformed and two cargo tanks exploded. The ship's deck of these tanks is almost completely ruptured. The deck of adjacent tanks is distorted.

On the slipway of Shipyard Gebr. Kooiman B.V.,the vessel, a 110x11.40 chemical tanker built  in 2005, will be cut into pieces and the damaged midship area will be removed over a length of ca. 24 meters. In cooperation with the in-house design office, a new midship section will be designed and built at Kooiman’s. Also the cargo pipe systems on the main deck and the eletrical installation will be renewed by Kooiman as required.
